Bystanders awaited what could have happened to Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez, 28, after his arrest, caught on camera in North Austin, showed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shoot the DoorDash driver in his upper back region during his arrest last Sunday.
Garcés Pérez, a Venezuelan man, had no weapon on him, during his stop and upon his entrance into Austin Hospital, Dell Seton, where he was discharged within a few hours with the bullet still lodged in his back. ICE agents transported him to a customs detention center in Pearsall Texas, where he is awaiting a surgery for the removal of the bullet.
